Beat the Heat: Explore the Great Indoors of Downtown Vegas

July 5, 2018

View of the High Roller at Linq Promenade in Las Vegas

Summertime is about soaking up some sun and enjoying the heat – but sometimes it can be necessary to seek the refreshing shelter of some good old fashioned air conditioning. The good news is that in Vegas, sacrificing time in the sun doesn’t have to mean sacrificing fun. This city has plenty of indoor activities that the entire group will enjoy, whether it’s taking a swim a few feet from a shark, seeing a classic Vegas show, or strolling through an art gallery.

Here are some of the best places to beat the heat and explore the great indoors of Las Vegas:

High Roller

Cool off while taking in the views at the High Roller at the LINQ Promenade. The High Roller is the tallest observation wheel in the world and provides a one-of-a-kind, panoramic view of Las Vegas from above. Try timing your trip so that you see the sunset from the top!

Pinball Hall of Fame

Take a break from the sunshine and have some gaming fun at the Pinball Hall of Fame. Housing the largest collection of pinball machines in the world, the Pinball Hall of Fame is a sight to behold. Games were created from the 1950s to the 1990s, so visitors are able to experience multiple eras of pinball fun.

Mob Museum

Learn about the history of organized crime and the inner workings of past mobs through rare artifacts and interactive exhibits at the Mob Museum, just minutes from Fremont Street. The museum regularly hosts special events, such as speakers and mob experts, so keep your eye out for these amazing learning opportunities.

Shark Reef (Mandalay Bay)

Get an up close view of some of the most exotic ocean inhabitants at Shark Reef Mandalay Bay. Over 2,000 call the exhibit home, creating a one-of-a-kind collection of wildlife that would be hard to come across, even in the ocean.

Bowling Alley

Beat the heat with a game of bowling at Red Rock Lanes, which features 72 lanes, a lounge, a game room, and a deli snack bar. Or, head to Brooklyn Bowl for a hip mix of live shows, gourmet food, and bowling.

Offering both classic and specialty treatments, the spa at Encore is sure to exceed your expectations and leave you rested and rejuvenated. Want to stay closer to home? Relax right here at The Ogden on our Sky Deck, Rooftop Pool, or Social Lounge.

A Show

Of course, Las Vegas is famous for its spectacular shows. From magic shows to concerts to dinner shows to comedy, you’re sure to find the perfect show for your day out of the sun. The Las Vegas Performing Arts Center at UNLV hosts various shows, events, and presentations throughout the year so keep an eye on the schedule of events so you’re sure not to miss anything.
